Project description: In 2014 Freedom Chemical meet with The Orange County Sheriff’s to talk about their need for waterproofing the inmate showers. At that time they were considering a very rigid glass reinforced system but since most of these showers were elevated and above occupied space consideration was given to a FreedomTuff which would provide a more flexible and robust system. When installing systems in jail setting special consideration has to be given to the inmates ability to remove the system and use it as a weapon. The flexible FreedomTuff system would help prevent this.
Application: The existing tile was prepared using power tools to remove the glaze and provide a profile. FT-6160 primer was applied at 5 – 10 mils. FT-2190 SealFlex was sprayed at 80 – 100 mils to provide a robust waterproofing membrane. FT-4000 Polyaspartic was applied at 10 – 12 mils and a light broadcast of non-skid was added to the floor.
