Solution: Johnson & Jennings selected Freedom Chemical’s Guardian-WF to provide long lasting protection for the water feature.  The combination of the products used provided excellent thermal stability; abrasion and chemical resistance; fast return to service; and durable installations with no odor, which was ideal for a water park.  For example, Freedom Chemical’s FreedomTuff 6160 is a two component 100% solids epoxy primer designed to treat new and existing concrete, masonry and wood. Freedom Chemical’s FreedomTuff 2216 is a fast setting, rapid curing, two-component modified aromatic spray polyurea, used as a general-purpose protective coating, that is flexible, abrasion, and impact resistant.  FreedomTuff 4295 is a two-component hand applied hybrid aliphatic elastomeric polyurea topcoat used as a protective/waterproof coating for interior/exterior concrete, wood, and metal surfaces.

Challenge: A protective coating to be applied to a water feature ride which needed to be flexible and abrasion resistant. Along its course, the ride plunges down two waterfalls, navigates three levels, and passes through two buildings.  Its overall square footage covers 112,000 square feet. Fast return to service is critical for amusement park rides. Down time is costly and takes away from the experience of the patrons.
