Project description: in 2016 kimberly clark plant in fullerton, ca was in meed of a lining system for their main clarifier used in the manufacturing process of scott toilet paper. This plant is a 24/7 manufacturing location to supplies much of southern california with scott toilet paper. The downtime of the clarifier was a critical factor. Freedom chemical provided chemical testing of their ft-2243 cr polyurea with the various chemicals used in the clarifier. Freedom chemical’s polyurea was a great option to minimize downtime.
Application: the concrete tanks were water jetted to remove build up. Next the concrete was repaired using high strength fast curing concrete. The concrete was then washed with a soluble salt remover cleaner. Next the concrete was prepped by sandblasting to achieve a csp 4 – 7 profile. Ft-6160 primer was applied at a 5 – 7 mils. Ft-2243 cr polyurea was applied at 100 mils. Spark testing was performed to insure no voids in the coating system.
